Case File 7G-31: Roseau, Minnesota
Case Date: December 2012
Special G-Unit Asset Neyton Finn is called in when a small Minnesota farming town is faced with the horrors of a demonic half-man/half-beast creature known as the Wendigo. Frequently appearing in Algonquian mythology, the Wendigo was created via the taboo practice of human cannibalism. Those who indulged in the eating of human flesh or meat would be possessed by the creature's legendary spirit and physically transformed into a supernatural monster forever more consumed with hunting and eating human prey.
The ancient Wendigo returned to life after the events of a deadly snowmobile accident near the Canadian boarder. High school hockey players Felix Forrester and Daniel Hooks were returning home from a match when they had an accident and their snowmobile partially broke through the frozen ice of a lake. Attempting to free the vehicle's treads from the ice, Felix slipped and fell through. Daniel fought to free his friend from beneath the lake ice, but was not able to save Felix's life in time. Daniel eventually pulled his friend's lifeless body free as well as the snowmobile which was damaged beyond repair. With a dangerous snowstorm moving into the area, Daniel was stranded alone in the wild and at risk of dying as well.
Much of what happened next is debated by local Roseau townsfolk. Daniel was stranded for ten days. He supposedly built a shelter and, when rescue never came, resorted to the horrific option of eating Felix in order to survive. Daniel then transformed into the Wendigo monster. Now seven feet tall, bearing canine fangs, claws, grey skin, and a gaunt emaciated body, the demonic beast was bloodthirsty for new prey. Sixteen Roseau towns peoples became victim to the Wendigo. For weeks, Neyton Finn pursued the creature to no avail. He was able to eventually track the Wendigo across the Canadian boarder where he was forced to put the creature down to prevent further bloodshed.
