GRISLY Short Film Synopsis
GRISLY begins with Carolyn Bronnicke on the run. Briefly escaping her pursuers, she locks herself alone in a bathroom where she violently transforms into a mutated swamp creature - a Gill Girl.
Jumping ahead in the story, we learn that Carolyn is one of five Gill Girls running for their lives. Carolyn has been captured and her friend Kelly has been killed by M-Agents from the CIA’s black ops ACS/M-division. Carolyn is interrogated, tortured, and experimented on by her captors. Dir. Christopher Smalls, Prof. Matthew Lamb, and Sgt. Alex Stevens believe that the Gill Girls are a threat to the Lousiana community and want to capture the three still-missing Gill Girls before the potential danger spreads further and the general public becomes aware of their existence. Carolynn is unable to share details of what caused her mutated transformation due to psychogenic amnesia from the event. Despite torture and invasive experimentation, Carolyn refuses to reveal the secret location of her girlfriends. Carolyn fears for the safety of her girlfriends and simply wants to be returned back to normal and released, if possible.
When CIA proper becomes aware of ACS/M-Division’s top-secret “Project Greenleaf” case, they assign Special Agent Milo Finn to investigate. As Agent Finn uncovers what is taking place he confronts Dir. Smalls regarding questionable activities being performed on Carolyn by his staff. Dir. Smalls dismisses Agent Finn’s charges, and quickly labels Finn a whistle-blower and he becomes an unwanted outcast at ACS/M-Division. Undeterred, Agent Finn moves forward with his investigation and ultimately determines that Carolyn and her girlfriends are innocent and that Dir. Smalls and his subordinates at ACS/M-Division have overstepped their CIA charter.
