Case File 1G-41: Vladivostok, Russia
Case Date: August 2012
Something dangerous had escaped one of the cargo containers of the Russian Pacific Fleet and is now living in the underground sewers and dark alleyways of Vladivostok. G-Unit Agent Brad Manning along with Special Assets Neyton Finn and Carolyn Bronnicke are called in to investigate when the description of the creature matches that from one of their cases a year earlier in San Francisco. A team of Russian scientists had recently returned from a secretly military operation on the Kuril Islands, a territory in an ownership dispute between Russia and Japan since the end of WWII. There they discovered one of the many unknown creatures that supposedly inhabit the islands. The indigenous Ainu peoples of the islands had known of the creature for some time. In fact, one small Ainu tribe had been making regular animal sacrifices to the Silk so as to keep it sufficiently fed and far away from their village. When the Russian scientists heard tales of the Silk they felt compelled to capture and bring it back to Russia for examination.
Captured the Silk they did, however the scientists neglected to continue on with the creature's regularly scheduled feelings. Hungry from being locked away in isolation, the Silk escaped its cargo container prison at its first opportunity. Five scientists, three soldiers, and six dock workers were killed in the process of the Silk fleeing into the city.
A pacifist by nature, Neyton Finn did not want to see the Silk harmed or returned to its Russian captors. He wanted the creature returned to its home on the Kuril Islands. Unfortunately, things did work out they way. They had trapped the Silk in an alley within the city. However when Carolyn's life was suddenly put in danger, Agent Manning was left with no choice but to use the special weapons that they brought with them and kill the monster.
