Gtv Interviews Michael Laurie
Gtv had the opportunity to recently interview Michael Laurie, who plays Director Smalls, in the upcoming sci-fi/horror short-film, GRISLY.
See below for a transcript of the interview:
Good morning, Michael. So tell us a little bit about the new sci-fi/horror short film that you're starring in, titled GRISLY.
Michael Laurie: GRISLY is basically about a covert, CIA military kind of organization and they're developing these biological weapons in the form of these monsters, these characters. It's my show and I wanna run it my way and Agent Finn is someone that wants to kind of run it his way and we come up against each other all the way through.
And what about your character, Director Smalls?
Michael Laurie: Director Smalls is kind of an evil guy. He doesn't have a lot of patience with anyone. He has pretty strong ideas about how things should be.
Tell us about how your character view's and interactions with the protaganists in GRISLY.
Michael Laurie: Carolynn, she's the monster. Agent Finn is a do-gooder that wants to protect everyone, and I'm not sure which one of them irritates me more. I think I want them both dead, both destroyed!
Sounds like they really get your goat?
Michael Laurie: Yeah, every time they get involved, things don't go my way. I don't like it. I'm a really destructive and evil guy and I would destroy anything in my path.
Wow! So much for the nice guy I thought I was interviewing. I guess that explains that smirk of yours. It makes me wonder, what evil actually lurks behind that smile?
Michael Laurie: I've always gravitated towards the darker characters. I like that guy; that mean, kind of cold, calculated, callous guy.
So you're a nice guy who gets a chance to explore his inner demons?
Michael Laurie: I live my life in a very gentle way. I have a good heart. I say all the right things. I'm pretty loving and I get to come in here and play the absolute antithesis of my character and it's just delicious. You get such great lines you know. You can completely remove yourself emotionally and watch people destruct in front of you based on something that you, in a really calculated way, created.
Good luck to you Michael and to the rest of the cast of GRISLY in the upcoming IFS Film Festival.
